Torii Square Park

A Tranquil Haven in Westminster

Welcome | ようこそ

Step through the Torii gate and into a place of peace and reflection. Torii Square Park is a unique space in Westminster, rich with history and designed for quiet enjoyment and cultural appreciation.

A Tribute to International Friendship

The park's story begins in 1975, when it was dedicated in memory of Yuko Nakamura Kishimoto, a Japanese exchange student who attended Westminster High School. The Westminster Rotary Club generously funded the park's initial development as a tribute to her and to foster international understanding.

A plaque within the park commemorates her life and the spirit of sharing that she embodied, reminding us that this bond "goes on forever."

Japanese-Inspired Design

In 2013, Torii Square Park was renovated to more deeply reflect its connection to Japanese culture. The most prominent feature is the striking red torii gate at the entrance. In Japanese tradition, a torii marks the transition from the ordinary to the sacred, inviting visitors into a space of tranquility.

Further enhancing the park's theme, 14 Pink Flair Cherry trees were planted. These trees, celebrated in Japanese culture, represent renewal and the beautiful, fleeting nature of life.
